Westmoreland: Democrats twisting arms, breaking rules
Congressman fights back on House floor after majority makes mockery of promises

6/28/07 Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland called out House Democrats on the floor for breaking their own rules, after their leadership held open a vote past the allotted time to twist arms and change the outcome of a vote. 

"The Democrats on Wednesday proved the hollowness of their rhetoric on clean, open government. Opponents of a ban on a certain type of energy exploration won the vote and then the leadership held the vote open to give them time to change votes. This is against the rules. Period. End of discussion. It hasn't taken Nancy Pelosi long to abuse her power to further a left-wing agenda, which in this case will further hurt our goals for energy independence."
